退伍军人

If you are a veteran of one of the branches of the U.S. 武装部队, on active military duty, or a dependent of a veteran, you may be eligible for financial aid in addition to 教育al benefits earned through your service.

退伍军人 and the Free Application for Federal Student 援助 (FAFSA)

There are two questions on the FAFSA that determine if you are considered a veteran. If you meet any of the definitions below, you do not need to provide parental information when completing the FAFSA, and will be considered independent for financial aid purposes.

问题: "Are you currently serving on active duty in the U.S. 武装部队 for purposes other 比培训?" (#49 on 月19日至20日FAFSA)

问题: "Are you a veteran of the U.S. 武装部队?" (#50 on 月19日至20日FAFSA)

You are considered a veteran for financial aid purposes if you:

• Are currently serving in one of the branches of the U.S. 武装部队 (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard),

• Are a National Guard or reserves enlistee was was called to federal active duty for other than state or training purposes,

• Were a cadet in one of the federal service academies,

• Were released from service under a condition other than dishonorable,

Who Is a Veteran's Dependent?

The spouse or child of a veteran may qualify for 教育al assistance through the following federal and state programs:

• 幸存者 & Dependents Assistance (DEA) 穿过美国.S. Department of 退伍军人 Affairs

• Cal-Vet Fee Waiver through the California Department of 退伍军人 Affairs

The college provides a 退伍军人 服务 办公室 dedicated to serving student veterans and veterans' dependents.  退伍军人 服务 provides help with accessing available benefits and offers veterans the support and assistance they need to transition into the civilian world and to pursue a higher 教育. 退伍军人 face a unique set of challenges as students, and the 退伍军人 服务 staff helps cut through red tape so veterans can overcome those challenges.
